Sceniq Park officially opened by Tweed Shire Mayor, Chris Cherry

The official opening of Sceniq Park marked an exciting milestone for the growing community at Sceniq Bilambil Heights.

To celebrate the completion of Stage 1 and welcome the lucky first residents to the community, Tweed Shire Mayor, Chris Cherry joined representatives from SKF Development to officially open the new park and cut the ribbon this important community asset.

The Open Day brought together future residents, local families, project consultants and community leaders to celebrate not only the delivery of a new public space, but the creation of a place where neighbours can connect, children can play and a genuine sense of community can grow.

Mayor Cherry shared her thoughts on Sceniq, the importance of new housing supply in the Tweed, and the role community spaces like Sceniq Park play in building connected neighbourhoods.

Welcome to Sceniq. Thanks for doing us the honour of officially opening Sceniq Park and meeting our very first new residents.

“What an exciting day to be here, to see this opening of the park. It’s a fantastic thing.

“I think it’s a place that we’re going to really see community come together and really build those connections that mean that a community becomes a community rather than just a lot of people.”

What does Sceniq bring to the Tweed community?

“To see a new development come online like this, to provide housing for young families, for people who’ve grown up in this area, but for people who are moving here as well, it’s a fantastic opportunity, and it’s just really exciting to be here today to welcome people.”

What makes today so rewarding for you?

“To see this, those plans that you see, you approve, there’s so much work that goes on behind the scenes. But then to come to a day like today and to see it actually come to life, that’s what makes our job really enjoyable.”

Is this the type of land development you’d want to see more of in the Tweed?

“We certainly want to see good quality development like this happening on the ground in Tweed, and it’s hopefully part of more to come.”

How will Sceniq Park connect the wider Tweed community?

“We’re really looking forward to the park being handed over to Council and it’ll become a really important part of the network of connection points right across our shire.”

How does land in Sceniq Bilambil Heights support new housing supply in the Tweed?

“Housing supply is never as fast as you want it to be, and that’s been a problem for the Tweed Shire for a while. So that’s why it’s so great to see this come to market and become homes for families and become a community.”
